Many patients don't want to try acupuncture because they are nervous about needles.  Acupuncture needles are very fine and most patients do not feel the needles being inserted.

Needles are most frequently inserted on the arms below the elbows, on the lower leg and the back. 

Acupuncture Needles

Needles used by acupuncturist are single use, sterilized and FDA approved.  Acupuncturists are trained in Clean Needle Technique and are required by OSHA to pass a course in Clean Needle Technique prior to receiving a medical license.
